A new section will be published in the International Journal of Nursing Practice. It will be a substantive contribution to nursing care internationally from the CNCF. It will include a range of features and sections designed to increase awareness of Cochrane by nurses and others associated with nursing care; to
improve access and usage of Cochrane reviews; and promote the ongoing contribution of nurses to the Cochrane Collaboration. Each issue will include:
• A topical editorial from the CNC Journal Editorial Board;
• An Overview Review of Cochrane reviews relevant to a specific area of nursing care
• An open section for the submission of papers (see below for further detail)
• News and information on the CNCF and the Cochrane Collaboration
• A “tips and tricks” column designed to promote understanding and accessibility of relevant statistics
• Transcripts of recent CNCF podcasts, and a link to the podcast website where you can download the mp3s

The CNC Section is calling for authors who have conducted implementation or evaluation projects that used Cochrane resources (these may include audit or quality improvement projects, research or systematic review based projects.) You may be interested in working with others on a Cochrane overview of reviews – if so, please contact the receiving editor Craig Lockwood to indicate your interest.

A half day CNCF symposium was held in Adelaide on Thursday 19th November 2009 as part of the Joanna Briggs Institute International Convention. Presentations were provided by some of the Node Convenors and an open forum was also conducted to share ideas about how to move the CNCF forward. The Symposium was well attended with colleagues from Thailand, Korea, Myanmar and Portugal interested in being involved in translating materials to raise awareness of the CNCF in countries who speak a language other than English. If anyone is interested in translating CNCF materials please contact cncn@adelaide.edu.au

The first CNCF Symposium was held at the National University of Singapore on October 9th and 10th 2009.  The purpose of the symposium was to consider the role of the CNCF in promoting the use of Cochrane Reviews in informing nursing care and improving health outcomes. This two day event was well attended with over 120 registrations from all over the world. A number of exciting developments were made including the establishment of a:

  • Traditional Chinese Node (Convener Dr Pei-Fan Mu)
  • Simplified Chinese Node (Convener Professor Hu Yan)
  • Fundamentals of Nursing Node (Conveners Professor Alison Kitson and Dr Suzi Robertson Malt)

The CNCF is proud to announce that from 2010 the International Journal of Nursing Practice (IJNP) will be publishing a Cochrane Nursing Care Network Supplement three times per year. To subscribe to the Journal (including the supplement) please visit www.blackwellpublishing.com/IJN

The aim of the Evidence Transfer Program (ETP) is to:

  1. disseminate summaries of nursing-care relevant Cochrane Reviews via electronic and print journals to encourage the transfer of the findings of Cochrane Reviews into practice, and
  2. to develop podcasts of each subsequent summary. We are currently seeking people to be involved in either or both of these activities. For more information please click here
